Letter to the Editor, The Franklin Press

Dear Neighbors,
As a resident and homeowner of Franklin, NC I feel proud to be a part of our great community and the people that have made this one of the best places to live. I, like you, are very concerned about the direction this country is heading. As you will see this notice has nothing to do with party affiliation. The following outline is a no brainer. There are 535 people in America that continue down the road of greed, self interest, and lies; with only one goal in mind. To get re-elected. Yes, the 535 are the Members of Congress. 435 House Members, 100 Senators. Remember; we hired them, and we can fire them. (red & blue alike).
This is my contribution to a cause that will level the playing-field. I would like to call our "new" bill….the "Taxpayer Relief Bill".
THE CHAOS: I will use the kiss theory. Those of you who may watch Fox News have a leg-up on the viewers of ABC, CBS, NBC where they cover only a short version of world and political news. With that said, let's move on to a Disgraceful 111th Congress and their "smoke & mirror" games they play with our Tax monies. In all fairness to the poor 111th Congress, I can assure you that Congresses has been sticking it too us for the past 50 years. If you think Congress can be trusted with our tax-dollars…..I,ve got a bridge to sell ya! The good news is…... it's finally our turn! So let's take advantage of this opportunity.
THE CURE: Congress has been in & out of so many meeting's trying way's to tax every-thing from cosmetic surgery to how many times one flushes the toilet. But not once have I heard one of the 535 Congressional Leaders mention the one thing that they all thrive upon, and that is their "PORK" & EARMARKS" spending. Those monies could be the best stimulus package this country will ever receive.
THE SOLUTION: This maybe the only chance Taxpayers have to have Congress by the bill(s). Think about it. Not one of the 535 Congressional Members would ever put their elections in Jeopardy. The time is NOW for Congress to submit a bill that would totally restrict all PORK & EARMARKS for a ten year period. Congressional Members have a choice; the BILL; or a PINK SLIP! The best way to make this a reality… is media contact, and letting your voice be heard. Keep in mind; not one Member would say NO!
According to THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION (www.heritage.org/research/budget (http://www.heritage.org/research/budget)) Reports the cost of pork & earmarks could exceed HUNDREDS of BILLIONS of your tax dollars in the next ten years. Which means once a bill is passed those monies could very well PAY FOR: such programs such as SOCIAL SECURITY (for the next 50 yrs.) And the cost of a workable HEALTH PROGRAM for the uninsured.
This will catch on, if you pass it on! I welcome your comments & support. Let's make this happen! "THE TAXPAYER RELIEF BILL". Congress can call it whatever they wish, as long as we are the recipients…. AND THERE IS NO MORE PORK!
